Full-Stack Product Engineer

ITChennaiFULL TIME

Job Description

The Role

We are looking for someone who builds complete applications, not someone who owns one layer of one.

You will work across the whole thing: interface, API, database, deployment. Some weeks that means adding a module to a system that has been live for two years and is used every day on active construction sites. Other weeks it means taking a problem that has never been built before and shipping the first working version of it.

The common thread is that you are expected to understand the application as a product, not as a set of tickets. Why it exists, who uses it, what breaks it, and what the person on the other end actually needs it to do.

On AI tooling. We build with AI coding assistants as a matter of course. This is not a nice-to-have or a future plan, it is how the work happens now. That changes what we hire for. Typing speed and framework memorisation matter far less than they used to. What matters is knowing what to build, giving the tools enough context to be useful, and having the judgement to catch what they get wrong before it reaches production. If you have not worked this way yet, that is fine. If you are not interested in working this way, this is the wrong role.

What You Will Do

Build complete applications

  • Design and build features end to end: interface, API, data model, deployment

  • Take a loose problem statement and turn it into something that works and can be shipped

  • Make product judgement calls on small things without waiting to be told

Keep existing systems running and growing

  • Take on applications already in production, including code written by other people with no documentation

  • Understand how a system behaves before changing it, then change it without breaking anything

  • Debug production issues down to root cause rather than patching the symptom

  • Find and fix security and performance problems in inherited code, in order of what actually matters

Work in an AI-assisted workflow

  • Use AI coding tools as a normal part of daily work

  • Give them enough context to produce something useful, and recognise when they have not

  • Verify output rather than accept it, particularly around edge cases, error handling, data integrity and security

  • Know when the tool is the wrong approach and write it yourself

Own outcomes

  • Test your own work before anyone else sees it

  • Say clearly when something is behind, blocked or turning out harder than expected

  • Document decisions so the next person, including you in six months, can follow them

What We Are Looking For

Must have

  • 2 to 5 years building and shipping web applications, in any stack

  • Genuine full-stack range: you have built interfaces and the backend behind them, and you understand how data moves between them

  • Solid grasp of relational data modelling, API design and query performance

  • Working knowledge of how applications get broken: injection, XSS, insecure file handling, broken access control, and how to prevent each

  • Comfort with Git in a team workflow

  • The ability to read unfamiliar code and reason about it before touching it

  • Clear written English. You will write specs, READMEs, status updates and prompts, and the quality of all four affects the output.

What matters most

The ability to learn a stack you have not used, fast, without being walked through it. We use Node, TypeScript, Next.js, React Native and Postgres today, alongside older systems in PHP and MySQL. In two years some of that will have changed. We are hiring the capacity to keep up, not a specific set of framework knowledge.

Good to have

  • Experience with an ERP, CRM or other multi-module business system

  • Payment gateway integration, including webhook and reconciliation handling

  • Mobile development experience

  • Any hands-on use of AI coding tools

  • Public work: repositories, live products, anything you can point at

Not required

  • A computer science degree

  • Experience in our exact stack

  • Deep specialisation in any one framework

Selection Process

  1. Application and assessment through the Wonkrew hiring portal, covering aptitude, reasoning, English, general awareness and a personality profile

  2. A practical technical task, around 4 hours, covering code review, a small build, and working with AI tooling

  3. Technical discussion with the founder

  4. Offer
